A Saturday at the Asilomar S.B. Tide Pools. . . Before moving, my sister and her family came to stay and enjoy some time on the central coast. Alex introduced his cousins to the wonders to be found in the tide pools. I am proud to say my three year old son knows the difference between barnacles and mussels, gumboot chitons and abalones, crabs and black turban snails, and that it's a "sea star," not a "star fish." I think as parents we "gently" persuade our children into professions we dreamed of (marine biology). Alex often asks to go to the beach, but the mountains will have to suffice for now.
